Givenchy Checkmate

parties will require good venues and, oftentimes, large ones since these are parties that tend to have a lot of guests. That is why there are certain towns and cities in Ireland that are great locations for such bachelor party at parties.com. This years couture shows have been a bit strange and, well...not too exciting, almost sellable.  I can't say I'm totally IN LOVE with this collection, but I love the way I think of THAT SUMMER when I read every Murakami novel ever written.  I guess that's what fashion is...bits and pieces, details...memories of things past and hopes of what's yet to come.

Galliano in Dior-land

John Galliano, in collaboration with Orlando Pita (hair), Pat McGrath (make up), and Stephen Jones (millinery) put on a magical show in Paris today. Galliano has really taken Christian Dior's vision above and beyond, staying true to the masters silhouettes while still breathing his own life into them...saturating them with pop color and mixed texture. A Galliano style Dior couture show is really in the details. The gowns seemingly float down the runway with such grace and beauty.  The hats are just...I mean...they are just perfection, the perfect accent to complete the look.  The make up is OH MY GOD.  I'm waiting for the day I can wear reverse black swan make up like this...good job team  #WERQUE

Mario Sorrenti Was Busy

February's issue of Vogue Paris has been no joke, especially to Mario Sorrenti. My favorite editorial of this particular glossy happens to be 'Et Vogue l’Été 2011' featuring the best of Spring/Summer 2011 on Lara Stone, Daria Werbowy, Daphne Groeneveld & Saskia de Brauw. The pattern mixes and saturated color combos are all to die for! WERQUE! Oh, and remember when I told you wreaths were the new headband and wreaths were here to stay....yeah, believe me now? LOVE IT! Hippie vibes!
(side note: i left out Daria...sorry girl)

An Appropriate Editorial

Vogue Russia just ran this beauty in the glossy, and how appropriate! Seemingly with the Ballet Russe and Black Swan on the mind, Jason Schmidt and Denisa Dvorakova nailed it. Seriously still having a ballet moment over here...

Tale Spin

So here's the Prada campaign, shot by Steven Meisel of course...who else could they possibly trust?!
The collection, inspired by Josephine Baker, is a gorgeous mix of colors, patterns, textures and shapes.  I wasn't ORIGINALLY a huge fan, but I am totally experiencing a late reaction.  Maybe its Meisel, maybe it's Arizona Muse, or maybe it's the shoes and sunglasses, the woven bags...the TAILS!...whatever it is it's working!  I'm sold!

Prada La Di Da

...Steven Meisel really knows how to capture the Prada vibes...
I love the watercolor palette here...baby pinks, winter whites and dusty khakis with a dash of stormy grey.  I also adore Sasha's lip color, it's perfect with those gold strappy pumps.  Simplicity at its most beautiful.  The socks are great too.  I've been inspired by thigh high socks lately, wearing them over jeans, over leggings, over tights, even layering them with knee socks.  It's a great way to stay toasty and still look chic.

SNAKEPIT

This past week I've learned a lot about myself to say the least. I've been thrown into the snake pit, however, it's a surprisingly beautiful snake pit. I'm sure I will panic at times, I'm sure I will freeze up, but in the end it's a glorious snakeskin rainbow.

Time Warp: 1996 High School Vibes

Because it was the year I entered high school By random selection I decided to browse the glorious campaigns of 1996. Turns out 1996 was a pretty incredible moment.  This leopard print and blue combo needs to happen again sooner than later, not to mention the red lip and heroin chic eyes.  I live for those eyes.  I see some MAJOR Clueless vibes going on in here...and now I need a cigarette.

Hairspiration: Gemma Arterton / Vogue Italia

This was the hair I had and LOVED prior to my July 2006 move to the city. Every time I cut my hair I come back full circle to this style.  The clothes are pretty fantastic too.  COLOR!

To 2011!

New Year's Eve in New York is always a little tricky. It's nearly impossible to get a cab, everywhere is jam packed, and the cover charges sky rocket. This year we decided to keep it in the family and stick to our tradition of spending the night at the Steve Willis' room in the Chelsea Hotel. Steve lives in Janis Joplin's old flat, and has cultivated a completely surreal feeling to his space. There was a seemingly never ending supply of champagne which led to quite the shenanigans.
My outfit was sort of a mobile disco ball: Oleg Cassini silver sequin dress, Miu Miu sculpted platform pumps, Alexis Bittar ring, earrings, and cuff, and a twisted bunny ears headpiece.  Total gay magnet...my boys couldn't keep their hands off of me!  Kim was my twin in gold. Steve sported a homemade ball drop sweater and some serious bling.  Christopher went for a hugh Hefner thing. Danny was classically gorgeous as usual.  Matthew wore a mohawk.  Jeff and Andrew wore each other.
We drank, we kissed, we laughed and we resolved to stick together, always.
